Nearly 100 children living near a smelting plant in Wugang, in central China's Hunan province are showing abnormal levels of lead in their blood, making them the second alleged case of lead poisoning exposed in China in the last month, Sohu.com reported Wednesday.

The city government has ordered the smelting plant to stop all its operations, and 86 children have been transported by the government to a hospital in Changsha, Hunan's capital city, for more thorough check-ups.

Over the last week, more than 800 children in Baoji city, Northwest China's Shannxi province were found to have abnormally high levels of lead in their blood.
