Mother and daughter futilely chase after thieves

Passers-by on a downtown street in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, simply stood and stared as a mother and her daughter chased after two pickpockets, who escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.

The two women ran nearly half a kilometer in pursuit of the thieves, according to police reports, until they vanished from sight.

The mother also didn't help herself out by giving the wrong street name to police officers, who had hurried to the site of the theft in vain.
