Sisters drown trying to grab hairpin
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-08-12 11:48 Two sisters, aged 10 and 12, died after drowning in a river near a village in Hebei province, trying to retrieve their youngest sister's fallen hairpin. The three sisters were playing by the river around noon last Friday when the hairpin of the youngest, age 5, was caught in a tree branch and dropped into the river. The two elder sisters attempted to retrieve the hairpin but both fell into the river and drowned. No passers-by were around to help. Villagers who eventually came to the river said they saw the youngest sister crying and clutching her sisters' shoes in her hands. (Yanzhao Metropolis News) |
