Ginseng grows after drinking potent fertilizer
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-08-12 11:47 A resident in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, claims that his ginseng plant has been able to sprout leaves and flowers while intoxicated in liquor for the past seven years. Wu Kexin, 79, said that he found the ginseng plant, measuring only 4 cm, on a mountain in July 2002 on a trip with his wife to his hometown in Jilin province. "Taking it back, I put it in a bottle of liquor and kept it there till now. I discovered some days ago that the ginseng had several leaves and three small flowers," Wu said. According to a local plant expert, the ginseng could be grown in a liquor of low alcohol content as long as there is fresh air. (Huashang Daily) |
