A 61-year-old man in Changsha, capital of Hunan province, has made thousands of portraits of Chairman Mao Zedong over the past 43 years.

Cao Xuwen, a retired publicity carder, started drawing Mao's portraits in 1960s, when he was a People's Liberation Army soldier.

Many of the portraits have been published in newspapers and magazines, some have even been displayed in Chinese museums.

Clearly a big fan of the former Chinese leader, Cao said he plans to make 120 more portraits of his idol for his 120th birthday in December.
