Two Chinese exchange students missing in Canada

OTTAWA: Two Chinese exchange students have been missing since Wednesday in Mississauga, Canada, Chinese diplomats confirmed Friday.

Officials from the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto confirmed the disappearance of a boy named Zhou Do, 15, and an 11-year-old girl named Nan Deng in a telephone interview with Xinhua.

The two students, both of whom were born in China's central province of Anhui, boarded their flight to Toronto in Shanghai about a week ago, the officials said.

Local police said on Thursday the students, who were attending a language program, were last seen in their host families in Mississauga, about 25 km west of Toronto, on Wednesday.

The police said they had received information that these parties might be staying with friends or family members in the Greater Toronto Area but would like to confirm that to be true.
