Global search for arms firm execs ends

Global recruitment of the country's largest aircraft manufacturer to find top aviation executives ended Wednesday, according to chinanews.com.cn. The recruitment is reportedly the first time a Chinese military supplier enterprise has tried to lure talents worldwide.

The six selected will be working for five subsidiaries of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC). The new executives are mainly from large Chinese state-owned enterprises and government institutions and are 42-year-old on average, the AVIC Recruitment Office said.

As all of the jobs will involve dealing with confidential corporate information, background checks have already been performed on all candidates and the new recruits will be asked to sign confidentiality agreements, according to a recruitment official.

AVIC's global research, which started February 26 of this year, attracted nearly one thousand applicants from more than 20 countries and regions.

AVIC was set up in November 2008 following the merger of the country's top two aircraft manufacturers. It has approximately 400,000 employees, 200 subsidiaries and 20 listed companies. The company has projected a revenue target of 1 trillion yuan (US$146 billion) by 2017, up from 166 billion yuan (US$24 billion) last year.
