Funeral parlor goofs up, cremates wrong dead body

More than 1,000 people gathered at a funeral parlor in Pucheng county, Shaanxi province last Sunday, to mourn the demise of Liu Yu, a local court officer who died in a road accident.

Only, the dead body that lay in front of them inside the mourning hall wasn't Liu's, but a stranger's.

The morticians by mistake placed another man's corpse, also a victim of a road accident, at Liu's funeral and didn't realize their blunder till two days later, when they informed Liu's family.

The family then attended a much simpler ceremony to bid farewell to Liu.

The funeral parlor compensated both Liu's family as well as the family of the other accident victim for the mistake.
