Man puts wanted criminal's name on fake ID, bad move

A former inmate in Qingdao, Shandong province, was detained for five days for forging an ID card carrying the name of a fugitive.

Shi was convicted in a robbery case four years ago. Not wanting the world to know of his past, he forged an ID card and used a name he found on the Internet matching his age and surname.

He didn't know it was the name of a wanted criminal.

When Shi used his new ID card to surf the Internet in a cyber caf earlier this month, cops thought they'd traced their man and rushed in for the capture.

Police were forced to detain Shi for questioning for five days before letting him go, without his fake ID though.
