Jail officials escort convict to his wedding
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-07-17 08:51 Prison authorities in Beijing recently allowed a drug peddler, doing a five-year term, to step out of jail for a day to get married. After serving a year and a half of his time, the inmate expressed depression for not being married to the woman he loves. Together with his lady, the inmate put in a request with the jail authorities for permission to tie the knot. Jail officials agreed. Last week, cops escorted the prisoner to his wedding, where they removed his handcuffs and even allowed him to wear a red shirt, which his bride had stitched up for him. (Beijing Times) |
