Young reporters to learn journalism tradition at China's revolution base

BEIJING: A group of 100 young journalists are to learn about China's journalism tradition on a tour of the Chinese revolutionary shrine Yan'an, organizers said Tuesday.

The journalists, from 18 major media groups and all with work experiences of less than three years, would visit villages and towns of Yan'an, now a prosperous city of northwestern Shaanxi Province, and interview locals during their six-day tour to start on Wednesday, according to the All-China Journalists Association, one of the organizers.

Zhai Huisheng, vice-chairman of the association, said at the launching ceremony that young journalists were the main force of China's news sector and the hope of future journalism.

"The journalists can stay with the locals and seek the root of China's journalism tradition," said Zhai.

Yan'an served as the Communist Party of China headquarters during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation in the late 1930s and 1940s.
