Man jailed for making joke that killed heart patient

A court in Jieshou, Anhui province, sentenced a man to five years in prison for cracking a vulgar joke which led to the death of a heart patient in March.

Zhu, 39, told fellow villager Chen, hospitalized for a heart condition, that he was having an affair with his wife and that she was pregnant with his child.

It was a joke, which enraged Chen, who went to Zhu's house after being discharged from the hospital to confront him.

Zhu tried to flee on seeing Chen at his door. In the chase that ensued, Chen fell to the ground and died of a heart attack.
