Woman's married friends suddenly mad about yam

Employees at a bank in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, are suddenly wild about Chinese yam after a woman said she ate the vegetable often before she became pregnant with twins.

Tests showed she will have a boy and girl.

The craze started more than one month ago when a former classmate of Huang asked about her secret to producing twins and the woman talked about her yam habit. Ever since then, Huang's colleagues, who want to be pregnant, have been stocking up on yams.

He Yingchun, a doctor with the city's Traditional Chinese Medicine hospital, said yams are good for a strong spleen but she's never heard of any connection to twins.
