Gui Shouyi, 62, took more than 910,000 yuan (US$133,090) in bribes for granting contracts to construction companies, the Pingdingshan Intermediate People's Court found.

Gui accepted the bribes between 2000 and 2007 when he was president of Xuchang Normal College and Zhoukou Normal College, the court said.

The court confiscated Gui's personal property worth 150,000 yuan (US$21,940) and all his illegal gains.
