China and Russia enhance mutual trust

Moscow: President Hu Jintao and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev pledged to further cement the two countries' strategic partnership of cooperation in a joint communiqué they signed Wednesday.

Both leaders stressed mutual support for the core interest – namely national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two nations.

Reiterating that Sino-Russian partnership remain an important priority in China's relations with the outside world, Hu said the two countries must promote mutual trust, deal with the differences between the two countries with the view to maintain the stable and healthy Sino-Russian ties.

"We must advocate the ideal of peace, that is, the two countries will remain friends for generations," Hu said.

Medvedev said that Russia also attaches great importance to its relations with China.

"Whatever crisis the world faces, it will not affect adversely the relations between our two countries," Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told Hu during their meeting Wednesday morning.
