HONG KONG -- A confirmed case of human infection of influenza A(H1N1) was reported in Hong Kong on Saturday, raising the accumulated number of confirmed cases of the disease in the city since late April to 33.

The Department of Health said 50 people were required to undergo influenza A(H1N1) testing in the 24 hours ended 6:00 p.m. Saturday.

"Thirty-six of them tested negative for human swine influenza while laboratory results of the other 13 are pending, and the remaining 1 has tested positive for human swine influenza," a spokesman for the department was quoted as saying.

Hong Kong has reported 33 confirmed cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection since health authorities enhanced surveillance for infections of the virus on April 25.
