The parents of Li Xiang, a senior high school student, now feel regretful for forcing the boy to sit for a national exam in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province.

Li begged his parents to let him skip the exam required to gain entry into universities and colleges.

In a message left for his parents before he ran away from home, Li said he plans to find a job.

Li's parents used to push him to study everyday and barred him from playing basketball and other sports.
