School bus rolls over, kills 5-yr-old girl

CHONGQING -- A five-year-old girl died when her kindergarten bus overturned in southwest China's Chongqing City, a work safety official said Thursday.

The accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Fenshui Township, Wanzhou District of Chongqing, which also left two children and the driver seriously injured, and eight other children slightly injured, said Wu Qiyong, head of the work safety bureau of Wanzhou District, who was investigating at the scene.

The three severely injured people were being treated in hospital, and the eight slightly injured children were receiving medical check-ups, Wu said.

The school bus belongs to Sanzhengqiaoling Kindergarten in Fenshui Township, and it was carrying 13 people when the accident happened, including Liu Kaiyi, the driver and head of the kindergarten, Liu's wife and 11 pre-school children.

The kindergarten is privately owned and run by Liu.
