Liver donor hailed as a model worker in Shanghai

An insurance worker in Shanghai was named a model worker after she donated 50 percent of her liver to a village girl.

Last month, Xu Jie, 8, was diagnosed with a liver problem that could have put her life in danger.

After Lin Ping learned they had the same blood type, she volunteered to donate her liver.

Despite opposition from her family, Lin went ahead with the operation.
