A bird in hand may worth time in jail for three men

Three men who stole 12 young egrets from a park were recently arrested in Ding'an county, Hainan province.

The men illegally entered the county's Hainan Tropical Bird World one afternoon and removed the young egrets directly from their nests.

They were detained and taken to the nearby police substation as they tried to leave. The bird thieves said they had planned to resell the birds, which go for about 100 yuan each, at some markets.
