China provided US$5 million of humanitarian aid to Mexico soon after the country reported A(H1N1) outbreaks.

The first batch of relief materials from China arrived in Mexico City on May 1, the first large-scale international relief Mexico received since it reported A/H1N1 outbreaks.

Besides Mexico, China has extended humanitarian emergency aid to Costa Rica, which suffered earthquake; Colombia, which suffered flooding; and FiJi, which also suffered a flood disaster, Yao said.

China will work more actively in international emergency assistance as it continues to experience growth in its economy and overall national strength, Yao said.
