NANNING -- Five workers were killed in a fume poisoning accident at a lead, zinc and antimony mine in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a local government official said.

The last four workers trapped in the mine were found dead at around 11:20 pm Sunday, and another worker died in hospital, said Yang Yonglai, deputy director of the municipal publicity department of Hechi City in Guangxi.

The fume poisoning occurred when workers deployed explosives to advance their digging process at around 3 pm at the metal mine in Jinchengjiang District of Hechi. 15 miners were working underground then.

Seven workers are still in hospital for observation, while other three were discharged.
