A man surnamed Lu, who impersonated a military man to trick his female boss into marrying him, was recently sentenced to five years in prison in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province.

Divorcee Zhang Qin, in her 30s, called Lu after reading his personals ad last year and then they met and fell in love.

Lu, who claimed to be a PLA political instructor in northwest China's Gansu province, borrowed 30,000 yuan from Zhang. He said he needed the money to pull some strings in order to transfer to Wuhan so he could marry her.

Zhang gave Lu the money but later saw his identity card and realized his story and his soldier's documents were not authentic.
