Manpowered plane takes off in Shanghai
Journalists take a look at the manpowered plane, alleged the first in China, during a photo opportunity in Shanghai Tuesday April 7, 2009. Plane designer Mao Yiqing rode on pedals to gear up the 42kg aircraft, which stayed afloat 2.6m high for 20 seconds spanning 126 meters. Mao attempts to put the aircraft mode into mass production despite scepticism over its practicality. [CFP]
