Grandma's shoe pads let her stand on own two feet

During the last 20 years, Gao Xiulan, now 80, has produced more than 220,000 pairs of shoe pads that's put her granddaughter through vocational school and paid for other expenses.

Gao, from Luoyang city, Henan province, makes 30 pairs of pads a day, or almost 11,000 pairs a year, with her own hands.

She started to make pads when her son died in a traffic accident and her daughter-in-law remarried. Her granddaughter was just eight months old at the time.
