China shines at world's largest audiovisual market

Updated: 2009-03-31 09:04 CANNES, France -- China is taking a high profile at the 46th MIPTV which opened in this Riviera city Monday, with a delegation comprising more than 40 companies striving to break into the European and American market for television programs. MIPTV trade fair, the world's largest audiovisual market, spotlights China, organizing industry panels, events and private receptions in a "Focus on China" program on Tuesday, the China Day. CCTV-CITVC, CTV-Media, Hunan Satellite TV and several excellent independent players including Jiang Toon Animation and Zhejiang Huace Film and TV, have made up of a powerful Capital TV Drama Producers Association and are jointly participating in MIPTV. Many of these companies will launch new international catalogues at MIPTV, including TV drama "The Legend of Bruce Lee," documentary "Dun Huang, The Pearl on the Silk Road" and animation "Monkey King." "Our major aim at MIPTV is to develop television program exchanges and co-operation with other countries," Tian Jin, deputy director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television(SARFT) said in an interview with MIPTV News. China has invested heavily in its animation sector in recent years and the Chinese presentation in Cannes will showcase the best series from both the state and private sector and introduce a raft of co-production opportunities. Chinese exhibitors told Xinhua that MIPTV is a good platform and gives companies an opportunity to meet all the major foreign buyers, especially the western ones. China brings all together 3,000 hours of programs of TV drama, documentary, Cartoon. The 46th MIPTV runs from March 30 to April 3and attracts more than 13,000 participants from over 100 countries around the world despite the economic downturn. |
