Seven injured in workshop blast in SW China

KUNMING -- At least seven workers were injured in a workshop blast on Monday in Shuifu County, southwest China's Yunnan Province, a local work safety official said.

The blast happened at Yunnan Yuntianhua Co. Ltd, a leading Chinese chemical fertilizer producer, around noon. The cause of the blast was uncertain, said Zhu Junhong, deputy director of the county work safety bureau.

Seven workers had been confirmed injured, some by broken windows. Rescuers were still searching the debris, Zhu added.

Work safety authorities are investigating the cause of the blast.
