China is following the development of the situation and the reaction of relevant countries after the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) announced the test fire of a communication satellite, said Yang.

Maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula is good to the interests of all sides concerned, Yang told the press, "We hope all sides concerned should do more for it."

FM Urges "Positive" Steps from France

Yang said he is fully confident about the long-term development of the Sino-French relations while urging France to make "positive" signs in dealing with major concerns of China.

The recent problems in the two countries' relations were not the responsibility of China, said Yang.

He urged France to make "positive" signs when dealing with issues of major concerns of China, saying China has always highly valued the promotion of Sino-French ties.

Better relations between the two countries are "in their common interests and in accordance with the aspirations of their people," he said.

Other Issues

China, Japan and the Republic of Korea should enhance exchanges and cooperation in face of the global financial crisis and make due contribution to help Asia overcome difficulties, said Yang.

All parties concerned should make concerted efforts to advance the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue and the most important task now is to advance the talks to a new stage, according to Yang.

He asked developed and developing countries to join hands to address the global climate change.
