Updated: 2009-03-06 16:06 ALMATY -- Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev on Thursday reiterated his country's firm support for China's stance on Taiwan and other issues. Kyrgyzstan will also support China as it plays an important role in international and regional affairs, Bakiyev said.
The president presented Zhang with the Danaker medal of friendship for his contributions to the development of bilateral ties. Bakiyev hailed China-Kyrgyzstan relations during the presentation, saying bilateral cooperation has generated fruitful results in the fields of political and economic issues, transportation, culture, security and education. Progress has also been achieved in cooperation on major construction projects in Kyrgyzstan as well as in fighting the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, Bakiyev said. Bilateral ties have been developing well in light of the Kyrgyzstan-China Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation signed in 2002, Zhang said. He said that political mutual trust has deepened and border issues have been solved. The two sides have also conducted fruitful cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the United Nations, Zhang said. China and Kyrgyzstan have and will always be good neighbors, good friends and partners, Zhang said. |
