In his meeting with Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham on Tuesday, the two sides agreed to consolidate and develop Bahamas-China ties by enhancing exchanges in the fields of politics, economy and culture.

Hui said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 12 years ago, China and the Bahamas have "understood and supported each other."

"High-level exchanges between the two countries have become more frequent, their economic and commercial ties have been deepened and the cultural and educational exchanges have been enhanced," Hui said.

He said both countries have cooperated and coordinated closely on international and multilateral issues and have achieved notable progress on bilateral ties.

Hui thanked Ingraham for the Bahamas' efforts to promote bilateral ties and its adherence to the one-China policy.

Ingraham expressed satisfaction with the momentum of the development of Bahamas-China relations.

"China is a friend and partner of the Bahamas. The Bahamas attaches great importance to its ties with China and hopes to develop even more friendly cooperation with it," Ingraham said.

At the meeting, Hui also presented to Ingraham a report on China's economic and social development over the past 30 years since the adoption of the reform and opening up policy.
