KHARTOUM -- Sudanese Presidential Adviser Mustafa Othman Ismail said on Tuesday that Sudan and China had provided to the world a model of continuous and fruitful strategic relations aimed at realizing the interests of both sides.

The senior Sudanese official made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua at the Chinese Embassy in Sudan, where a party was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sudan.

"The relations constitute a model to the world which is suffering from a disorder of cooperation criteria between countries and peoples," Ismail said.

He said, "Sudan and China have overcome a long distance between them," adding that there had been no tensions and differences between Sudan and China under different leaderships in both nations.

He attributed the booming Sudanese-Chinese relations to both countries' adherence to the principles of mutual respect, joint interests and refrainment from intervening in the internal affairs of any country.

"These relations of cooperation, which include the fields of oil, agriculture, electricity and economy, have realized the interests of the two peoples," he said.

"There is another important field of cooperation, that is the political one," Ismail said, adding that the two countries cooperated in this field to preserve the unity of territories of each other.

He said the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties had sent a message that both sides had the desire and readiness to continue the process of enhancing their partnership.
