Six dead, 12 injured in central China chain collision

WUHAN -- Six people died and 12 were injured Tuesday in a chain collision here in the capital of central China's Hubei province, police said.

The accident happened at about 11:50 a.m., when a truck went out of control and crossed into oncoming lanes on the Dongxihu section of the 107 State Highway. The truck collided with two buses, a truck and a car.

Six people, including four from the buses and two of the vehicles' drivers, died at the scene.

Another 12 were injured and hospitalized, with two in serious condition.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
