Premier Wen leaves for European tour

BEIJING -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao left Beijing Tuesday morning for official visits to four European countries and the EU headquarters from January 27 to February 2.

He will head for Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Britain. He is also scheduled to visit the the EU headquarters and attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Wen was invited by President of the Swiss Confederation Hans-Rudolf Merz, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab.
