A bank's employee sparked great anger among local residents after he insisted that a critically ill 67-year-old man change his card's password in person.

Tang Junfeng, a retired worker, was carried from his hospital ward to the bank on a stretcher so he could change his password at Guilin Commercial Bank in Guilin, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The bank refused a request from Tang's family member to change the password without forcing the man to go in.

Tang uses the card to receive his pension and living allowance from his company.

The bank officer said he was just following company policy. But the man's daughter and other customers complained the bank was inhumane.
