Girl fends off robber by grabbing knife hilt

A 14-year-old girl avoided fatal injury from a robber by grabbing the hilt of a knife pointed at her stomach in Chongqing last Wednesday night.

Liu Miao (not her real name), a student in a local middle school, went out with classmates that evening. She parted with her friends and went home alone but was stopped by a man wielding a knife. The man told Liu to give her money to him but she fought back by grasping the knife's hilt tightly and dodging its point. The robber took her cell phone, leaving an injury on one of Liu's arms.

Liu called her mother and then went to a local hospital. Her mother reported the incident to local police, who are now searching for the robber.
