Ministry calls for prudence in business cases
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-12-24 20:39 BEIJING -- A senior official of the Ministry of Public Security has called for cautious use in the detention and arrest of enterprise executives in charge of business operation. Public Security Minister assistant Zheng Shaodong told a national teleconference Tuesday that economic crime investigation divisions of local police departments should exercise caution when ordering the seizure of funds and accounts of companies suspected of economic crimes. Zheng cautioned that "improper law enforcement could affect enterprises' regular production activities, or even cause mass incidents." He urged the investigation departments to "take social effects into consideration when exercising their power." Local police should safeguard the interest of the public, and try their best to recover the economic losses. Zheng also urged police departments to address the demands of the public when dealing with mass incidents caused by economic problems so as to maintain social stability. |
