Son jailed for killing ill dad

A man was sentenced to three years in jail after his terminally ill father died following a beating he administered him in Zhengzhou, Henan province, last Tuesday.

Li Gao, 42, beat his dad in a bid to avenge his mother after his parents had quarreled at home in Nanliu village in the city's Gaoxin district in March.

Gao's dad, who had been suffering liver cancer, died the following morning.

Gaoxin District People's Court said Li had committed involuntary murder and must be punished.
