Lady's giant tongue reduced in surgery

A woman was finally able to close her mouth after having her oversized tongue reduced in surgery thanks to the help of a charity.

Xiao Qing, who was born in Zhouning county, Shanghai, was ridiculed by fellow villagers for 20 years because her tongue was always protruding from her mouth.

She confined herself to her home for fear of being laughed at and tried to kill herself many times before Zheng, president of Zhouning charity party, called on businessmen to raise money for surgery.

Now Xiao will undergo extensive rehabilitation treatment following an operation, which cost around 70,000 yuan ($10,200).
