CHANGSHA -- More than 20 police employees in a central China city went to local Communist Party committee premise to appeal for better payment, but no scuffle or damage occurred, local government said on Wednesday.

The workers, who were hired to help police maintain public security in communities, had a monthly salary of 650 yuan ($95) prior to July, according to a Leiyang City government spokesman.

From July to September, the Leiyang city raised their monthly salary by 150 yuan. But their payment rise stopped in October, making them appeal at the Communist Party committee building.

The spokesman said the workers left the building after being told that the local government was discussing a plan to raise their payment.

No any violent act took place during their appealing process, he added.
