Pensioner's stinking love rubbishing neighbors' lives

A childless pensioner in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, has developed the dubious hobby of hoarding waste.

Ever since retiring 18 years ago, Zhang Rongfu has stashed junk in his 40-sq-m apartment on the fourth floor of his building.

Afraid somebody would steal his trash, he would often sleep in the corridor outside his apartment to guard it.

Neighbors have complained to Zhang about the stench but he refuses to dispose of his rubbish.

A counselor said his unhygienic addiction stems from the fact he has no relatives or friends.

He treats the junk as treasure with all his love, Chen said.
