Cambodian King meets China's top political advisor

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni met here Wednesday with visiting China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin, and they agreed to further Sino-Cambodian friendship from generation to generation.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People' s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), spoke highly of the Cambodian royal family's contributions to the development of bilateral relations and its adherence to the one-China policy in the past years.

The Chinese side attaches great importance to its relations with Cambodia and will work with the Cambodian side to push forward bilateral friendship and cooperation, said Jia, who arrived here Tuesday on an official goodwill visit as guest of Cambodian Senate President Chea Sim.

Sihamoni said he will continue to work for the friendship, unity and cooperation between the two countries and he believes this visit will further consolidate and strengthen the existing bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Jia also met here Wednesday with Heng Samrin, president of the Cambodian National Assembly, and they exchanged views on further promoting bilateral friendship and cooperation.      

Cambodia is the last leg of Jia's four-nation visit which has taken him to Jordan, Turkey and Laos.
