A rich man in Guizhou province spent 200,000 yuan ($29,000) building a luxurious and artistic tomb for his children to remember him after his death.

The 72-year-old built the 130-sq-m shrine for his offspring to appreciate a work of art when they come to pay their respects.

But his behavior has been widely criticized by locals and authorities say they would not have allowed the man to build it had they known of his plans.

He is now being investigated.
