Heartbroken man eases pain with dip in icy pond

A heartbroken young man swimming in the pond at Sanxia Square in Chongqing has caused a stir among locals.

The man jumped into the freezing water twice last week.

He told security guards who pulled him out that the cold plunges ease the pain of breaking up with his girlfriend.

Police had come to persuade him to leave the pond when he jumped from its bank on Wednesday.

They took him back to the station after pulling him out, saying his behavior had disturbed social order.

More than 20 citizens reported the case and four patrolling cars and 50 people have participated in rescues.
