Top political advisor: China ready to promote ties with Laos

Updated: 2008-12-01 20:50 VIENTIANE -- China is ready to work with Laos to promote bilateral comprehensive cooperation to higher levels, said China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin here Monday. Jia, member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks during his talks with Sisavath Keobounphanh, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and chairman of the Lao Front for National Reconstruction ( LFNR).
Jia said it is in the fundamental interest of the two countries and their peoples to further consolidate bilateral traditional friendship and enhance their reciprocal cooperation. The CPC and the Chinese government attach great importance to the relations with Laos and treasure bilateral friendship, said Jia, who arrived here earlier Monday on an official goodwill visit as Sisavath's guest. Jia said the CPPCC will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the LFNR so as to push forward the growth of bilateral good neighborly friendship and cooperation. Sisavath said he hoped that both sides will continue high-level contacts and strengthen personnel training and exchanges. He said Laos and China enjoy mutual trust and support, and he believed that this visit will help promote bilateral traditional friendship, unity and comprehensive cooperation. Jia and Sisavath also attended a signing ceremony after the talks for bilateral cooperative documents. Laos is the third leg of Jia's four-nation visit which has taken him to Jordan and Turkey, and will also take him to Cambodia. |
