Wife detains husband to keep him from mistress

A man in Xiaguan district, Sichuan province, phoned police 16 times after his wife locked him in their house to stop him from meeting his mistress.

Police received the man's first call at 7:40 pm on Nov 13 and came to his house to check up on what happened.

The man said he needed to meet a friend but was stopped by his wife, who suspected he was going to meet his mistress.

Because it was a domestic dispute and not a kidnapping, police were powerless to do anything and left.

The man kept calling police, requesting help until they finally returned following his 16th call.

But by then the man had already escaped and police found his wife at home alone weeping.
