Moderate earthquake hits northeast China

BEIJING -- An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale jolted Haicheng Prefecture in northeast China's Liaoning Province at 6:53 a.m. (Beijing time) Friday, according to a monitoring provided by the Chinese seismological observatory.

The epicenter of the earthquake was monitored around 10 kilometers deep below sea level and 40.6 degrees north latitude, 122.9 degrees east longitude.
