Father detains girl for working in 'beauty parlor'

A 16-year-old girl has filed a lawsuit against her father after she was locked up at home for three days in Dengfeng, Henan province.

Chen Xiaowang brought his daughter Chen Weiwei back home and used an iron chain to lock her up after he found her working at a local beauty salon last month.

He suspected his daughter had been working as a prostitute, bringing his family into disrepute.

Chen Weiwei was rescued three days later after she begged her grandmother to take a piece of paper to her boyfriend Sun Xiaojian, who immediately sought police help.

Police said Chen Xiaowang had committed the crime of illegal confinement.
