To please his in-laws-to-be, a Beijing man married his bride in traditional Chinese fashion in a downtown area of Beijing on Friday.

The groom, surnamed Su, rode a magnificent brown stallion as his spouse-to-be was carried in a bridal sedan chair by eight people following a traditional Chinese band en route to their wedding through Zuojiazhuang, a downtown area of Beijing.

Although onlookers appreciated the scene and applauded Su, the police weren't so happy with him.

Authorities complained the couple had violated traffic rules prohibiting people from riding horses in city zones like Zuojiazhuang.

"We do hope that no one else will follow suit," they said.
