Chinese shares end 0.73% lower

Chinese share prices rebounded from an over 4.6-percent plunge in the morning session to close by falling just 0.73 percent on Tuesday, thanks to overall gains in the heavyweight banking sector.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2157.84 points, down 15.9 points, or 0.73 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 7181.28 points, down 36.05 points, or 0.5 percent.

In the wake of Monday's global market nosedive, Shanghai index opened in the day at 2101.09 points, down 72.65 points or 3.3 percent from Monday's closing 2173.74. Shenzhen index opened 6939.68 points, down 277.63 points or 3.8 percent from Monday's closing 7217.32 points.
