Willing sperm donor duped

A 54-year-old man was defrauded of a total of 8,300 yuan ($1,200) after getting conned into helping a rich woman get pregnant in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province.

Zhang contacted a matchmaking center after reading a newspaper ad in which a 31-year-old woman, Jiang Yanxue from Chongqing municipality, was seeking a sperm donor.

Jiang had offered as much as 2.6 million yuan to the man who could get her pregnant, with a deposit valued at 130,000 yuan in advance to the candidate she liked.

After the matchmaking center said Zhang was the man chosen by Jiang, Zhang was required to pay a service charge, notary, lawyer and risk fees as well as personal income taxes in advance. But after forking out the large sum of money, he found he had been fooled.

Zhang has now sought help from police.
